Peer Review Process
The collection of scientific papers “Theoretical and Methodical Problems of Children and Youth Education” reviews all the submitted manuscripts. The peer review process is aimed at objective evaluating the content of scientific article. It provides an analysis of weaknesses and strengths of the paper.
The journal uses single-blind review, which means that the names of the reviewers are hidden from the author.
The papers submitted to the collection of scientific papers “Theoretical and Methodical Problems of Children and Youth Education” should meet the manuscript requirements.
The process of peer review is carried out by members of the Editorial Board and by independent experts from the relevant branches. After submitting within 1 week, the Editorial Board member reads the abstract and decides whether to consider the paper for review or not. If the paper is deemed completely outside the scope of the journal or its quality does not meet a basic threshold required for consideration, it will get rejected outright.
The reviewing process is completed within 3 weeks after submission. Reviewers evaluate theoretical and methodological level of the papers, their practical value and scientific significance. In addition, the papers are considered according to ethics in scientific publications and manuscript requirements.
If there is no a conflict of interest, as well as peer reviewer is highly-qualified specialist who conducts research in a particular branch of study, the peer reviewer make a recommendation on the quality of individual articles, filling out a “Review Form”
The papers of the Editorial Board members are also reviewed. The Editorial Board members do not peer reviews their own manuscripts.
The following represent the range of possible outcomes:
Accept without any changes - the journal will publish the paper in its original form. This type of decision outcome is rare.
Accept after major revisions - the journal will publish the paper provided the authors make the changes suggested by the reviewers and/or editors.
Revise and resubmit - the journal is willing to reconsider the paper in another round of decision making after the authors make major changes.
Reject the paper - the journal will not publish the paper or reconsider it even if the authors make major revisions
When reviewer makes a final recommendation to the author, the manuscript will be returned back to the corresponding author with comments and recommended revisions via e-mail. Within 1-2 weeks the author should make recommended changes and submit a new version of the article via email.
The changed version is re-submitted. The resubmitted papers are subjected to another complete review process and acceptable explanation for the points raised by reviewers. The date of acceptance of the article for publication is the date when the Editorial staff receives of the reviewer’s positive outcome (or the Editorial Board decision).
For the author’s request, the Editorial Board may submit the article to another reviewer.
The Editor-in-Chief checks for any potential conflicts of interest in order to appoint another expert.
The articles are selected from those that received a positive review from the Editorial Board and recommended for publication in accordance with the registration dates.
The Editor-in-Chief Editor is responsible for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of articles or, if necessary, by the meeting of all Editorial Board members.
The international authors, whose articles have received a positive review and were recommended by the Editorial Board, will be printed as a matter of priority.
Authors submitting articles for publication warrant that the work is not an infringement of any existing copyright and will indemnify the publisher against any breach of such warranty.
The author is responsible for ensuring the authenticity of data, facts, quotations and other information.
Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers
The purpose of peer review of the collection of scientific papers “Theoretical and Methodical Problems of Children and Youth Education” is committed to a high standard of editorial ethics. Peer review process helps to validate academic work, as well as to improve the quality of published research.
The selected reviewer who feels low skills in a high-quality reviewing or has not enough time for reviewing must decline an invitation to review.
The reviewer must provide to the editor an objective, expert opinion on whether the paper satisfies the journal criteria and is suitable for publication.
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in a reviewer’s own research without the express written consent of the author. Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage.
Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.
If reviewers suspect plagiarism, but cannot recall or locate exactly what is being plagiarized, notify the editor of your suspicion and ask for guidance.

Final Decision on Publication
The manuscript must be submitted from March to September. After peer reviewing and positive decision outcome, the final decision is approved by the meeting of the Academic Council of the Institute on Problems of Education of the NAES of Ukraine. The corresponding mark is made on the last page of the collection of scientific papers.
