THE PROBLEM OF MILITARY-PATRIOTIC EDUCATION OF SCHOOL STUDENTS AND YOUTH THROUGH ART: RESEARCH ASPECTS AND PERSPECTIVES
Abstract
In the context of the problem of military-patriotic education of children and youth, the article highlights the aspect of researching the theoretical foundations and practical ways of implementing military-patriotic education of children and youth through art based on institutions of general secondary education. Conclusions were made on the development of legal foundations, the availability of theoretical approaches, and updated forms of implementation of military-patriotic education.
The article aims to analyze the existing trends and forms of military-patriotic education of children youth through art, to define promising scientific and practical vectors of their development.
In the process of achieving the goal, theoretical methods (analysis of normative documents and scientific sources on the research problem), empirical methods such as pedagogical observation, generalization of pedagogical experience to generalize the state of military-patriotic education of children and youth, existing trends and perspectives in theoretical and practical processing of the problem.
The research results within the framework of the applied research theme “Forms and Methods of Military-Patriotic Education of School Students through Art” are presented, which is carried out by the author of the article at the Laboratory of National-Patriotic Education of the Institute of Problems on Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine.
The conducted research made it possible to highlight the current challenges in achieving goals and tasks of military-patriotic education of children and youth through art related to the need to provide it during art lessons and in extracurricular work. It is about updating the teaching content of the integrated course “Art”, the search for an artistic repertoire that involves the study of known and unknown Ukrainian artists, and the selection of relevant artistic content, and modern formats to implement the military-patriotic concepts, in particular, using digital tools which will help children and youth resist physical and informational aggression and risks during the wartime.
The directions and forms of work are emphasized for art teachers in organizing their work on military-patriotic education (thematic scientific and practical conferences, webinars), for students (art forums, student art conferences, online art projects, virtual exhibitions, charity art actions, concerts, etc.) that unite representatives of various institutes, students and parents.
The prospective vectors of educational work with students through art are singled out: the study of the achievements of the Ukrainian state, modern Ukrainian brands of world recognition, material achievements, man-made objects from the time of Independence, national, patriotic, and military-patriotic symbols of recent years, which can become the subject of artistic projects, students’ art creative activity.
