FORMATION OF TEENAGERS’ ENVIRONMENTAL OUTLOOK IN THE ASPECT OF ACHIEVING THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

Abstract

The article substantiates the process of formation of the environmental outlook as a form of spiritual and practical mastering of the world by human. The criteria and indicators for children’s nature protection organizations have been defined. The forms and methods of implementation of this process in the conditions of partnership interaction of a public organization are specified.
The purpose of the article is to reveal individual stages of research into the activities of public organizations (NGO), in particular, children's and environmental organizations, in the field of sustainable development. Such activity becomes extremely relevant due to the activation of informal processes aimed at raising a child, providing information, and protecting the environment.
The main tasks are as follows: to create a model for evaluating the effectiveness of the formation of an environmental outlook (components, criteria, indicators), to investigate the forms and methods used by children’s environmental organizations to form an environmental outlook, to present the results of a study on the implementation of the educational module “Basics of Sustainable Development Strategy in Ukraine”. Theoretical, empirical and statistical methods were used in the research.
Theoretical and methodological sources on the research problem were analysed. The questionnaire was carried out, as well as a statistical and qualitative analysis of the survey results was carried out. Based on of them, the levels reached by the participants were determined (the level of knowledge and skills on issues of sustainable development, the level of studying climate change issues, conservation biological diversity, prevention of the spread of desertification processes, global environmental problems, the system “human – science – production – society – nature”, the level of understanding of the influence of the attitude and behaviour of the population in local areas on the global consequences for the environment of the region, the state, the planet, the level of formation of a holistic view about contemporary problems of society, systemic knowledge about sustainable development, aspirations for active application of knowledge about sustainable development in everyday life, active civic position of participants regarding sustainable development of Ukraine’s economy, politics, society) and indicators were calculated.
Moreover, an evaluation of the effectiveness of the formation of the environmental outlook, its criteria and indicators is presented.
The novelty of the research is the study of experience of partnership activities of especially children’s nature protection organizations and educational institutions (Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, National Ecological and Naturalistic Center for Student Youth of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, institutions of secondary education) in achieving the Sustainable development goals with the help of educational and methodological materials created specifically for this purpose – the educational module “Basics of Sustainable Development Strategy in Ukraine”.
