CRITERIA AND INDICATORS OF FORMATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL COMPETENCE AMONG HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS BY MEANS OF PROJECT AND RESEARCH ACTIVITY

The article defines and characterizes the criteria and indicators of the formation of environmental competence among high school students by means of project and research activities. The peculiarities of the formation of environmental competence among high school students by means of project and research activities are analyzed.
The purpose of the article is to develop criteria and indicators for the formation of environmental competence among high school students by means of project and research activities. The tasks of the research are defined as follows: to analyze the peculiarities of the formation of environmental competence among high school students by means of project and research activities; to develop criteria for the formation of environmental competence among high school students by means of project and research activities; to develop indicators of the formation of environmental competence among high school students by means of project and research activities. To achieve the set goal and defined tasks, the following methods were used: comparative-analytical; systemic; generalization, systematization, and specification.
The importance of the formation of environmental competence among high school students is emphasized. This will contribute to the development of a responsible attitude towards the natural environment among young people. Competences will also contribute to the understanding of the relationship between human society and the natural environment, and the implementation of sustainable practices for the preservation of natural resources in personal life and the community.
The key aspects that served as the basis for the development of criteria and indicators of the formation of environmental competence among high school students by means of project and research activities were determined. They include environmental knowledge, environmental skills, environmental skills, environmental values, environmental consciousness and behaviour.
The criteria and indicators of environmental competence among high school students were developed by means of project and research activities. They outline the motivational-value, theoretical-cognitive, and project-activity components.
